Zundamon is a mascot character representing the Tohoku region. He was created by SSS LLC, a company based in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture.<\/p>\n

The character first appeared in 2011. At that time, a character called “Tohoku Zunko” was created. This character was modelled on zunda mochi (sweet edamame paste). It was created to support recovery efforts following the Great East Japan Earthquake.<\/p>\n

At first, “Tohoku Zunko” was a mascot who could transform into a human and carried a bow called “Zunda Arrow” as a Zunda Fairy.<\/p>\n
