I visited "Shinojima" in Minamichita Town, Aichi Prefecture.
The sunset from the west side of the island is beautiful and has been selected as one of the "100 best sunsets in Japan.
It is a great place for sightseeing, with beautiful white beaches for swimming and fishing.
Recently, Himakashima Island has become a famous tourist spot in this area, but if you want to spend a relaxing time, we also recommend Shinojima Island, which has a lot of nature.
In this issue, we will introduce how to get to "Shinojima," a hidden tourist spot in Aichi Prefecture, as well as recommended places to stay!
What is the attraction of Sasajima?

Located in Minamichita-cho, Aichi Prefecture, "Shinojima" is a remote island recommended for those who want to spend a relaxing time in nature.
This beautiful island is also called "Matsushima of the Tokai Region." Many people come here in the summer for "swimming," and it is a popular spot to spend a relaxing time throughout the year.
Shinoshima Island has been selected as one of the "100 best places for sunsets in Japan" and offers a "beautiful sunset" when the weather is fine.
When I went there this time, there were a few clouds, so I could not see the sunset until the moment it was setting, but I was able to see a quite beautiful sunset.
In addition, Shinoshima is a place where the currents of Mikawa Bay and Ise Bay meet, and visitors can enjoy "fresh seafood.
One of the specialties of Sasajima is "fugu" (blowfish).
The "torafugu" of Shinoshima boasts a catch that rivals that of Shimonoseki in Yamaguchi Prefecture, one of Japan's most famous fugu production centers.

I actually had "fugu sashimi" and "fugu nabe" at the inn where I stayed, which I will introduce later, and they were really fresh and delicious.
The abundance of seafood on Sasajima has made the island a popular destination for fishing enthusiasts, and there is even a managed fishing pond in the sea called "Sasajima Fishing Paradise."
Many fish such as sea bream, yellowtail, horse mackerel, etc. are released here, and the spot is crowded with locals and tourists during the season.
Just imagining the course of a trip where you can enjoy a relaxing fishing holiday, eat lots of delicious seafood, and refresh your body and soul... it is exciting, isn't it?

The islanders are also very friendly, so I recommend this island to those who want to be healed.
Access to Sasajima
Since Shinoshima is a remote island, it can be reached by "ferry" or "high-speed boat".
The main routes for access by ferry or high-speed boat are from "Shisaki Port", "Kawa Port", and "Irago Port". The main routes are "Shizaki Port", "Kawawa Port", and "Irago Port".

For this trip, I drove to Katana Port and took a passenger boat to Shinoshima, but if you are going by train from Nagoya Station, you can take a high-speed boat from "Kawawa Port".
From Meitetsu "Shin Nagoya" station, head to Meitetsu "Kawawa" station (about 50 minutes), walk to Kawawa port, and take a 25-minute ride on an ocean sightseeing boat to reach Shinoshima.
From Chubu International Airport (Centrair), take the airport bus to Kawa Station, where Kawa Port is located, in about 50 minutes.
Recommended Accommodations in Sasajima
The sunset was not the only thing that impressed me at Sasajima.
Above all, the inn where we stayed was very nice...!
Gifuya Ryokan, an inn in Sasajima

I stayed at a lodging facility called "Gifuya Ryokan" in Shinoshima.
Gifuya Ryokan" has a view of the ocean from its rooms, with the beach right in front of it.
It is nice to be able to stay in a room with an ocean view at ease!

The direction of the sunset is the opposite of the sunset direction, so to see the sunset you have to go to the other side of the island, but the room overlooking the ocean was very special.
Incidentally, it is only a 10-minute walk from the inn to the other side, although there are hills and other obstacles.
In the mornings, we could even view the sunrise from our rooms.
I could not see the moment of sunrise because there was just a tree, but I was told that in another season, I could see the moment of sunrise from my room.

The view is not the only attraction of "Gifuya Ryokan," an inn on Sasajima.
The "dinner" we had was also excellent!
Below is the lobster that was served for dinner. It is very gorgeous, isn't it...!

Shinoshima is famous for its fugu (blowfish) and octopus, and at dinner at the inn, we were able to taste dishes such as fugu tessa, tsukechi, tempura, octopus, and lobster.

Fresh, sumptuous dishes were served one after another, so much so that I thought I was in dreamland.

In particular, the octopus was softer and easier to eat than I had imagined!

The breakfast was also surprisingly sumptuous, so if you are looking for a delicious meal, you should definitely stay at "Gifuya Ryokan," an inn on Sasajima!

Go to "Sasajima," a hole-in-the-wall tourist spot where you can relax from daily fatigue!
Thus, Shinoshima Island, located in Minamichita Town, Aichi Prefecture, is a remote island surrounded by beautiful waters and rich in nature.
Many tourists visit the area for swimming and fishing, making it a popular spot for ocean lovers.
The Port of Kawaawa is easily accessible from Nagoya, the center of Aichi Prefecture, and Centrair, as it takes only about an hour to reach the port.
With an abundance of seafood, you can enjoy Japanese cuisine with seafood to the fullest!
In addition, signs and other signs are basically written only in Japanese on "Shino-jima," which is still a little-known tourist spot. If you are visiting from overseas, it is recommended that you prepare a translation function or application such as Google lens!
