Here’s what we know:
Food is allowed at the EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai.
At first, it was generally not allowed to bring food into the Osaka Expo venue, such as lunch boxes.
However, in January 2025, the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition decided to allow food to be brought in.
This change was made after the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition reviewed the inspection methods for items brought into the venue.
As a result, visitors can now bring all kinds of food, including lunch boxes, into the EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai. This is good news for people who were worried about high food prices at the Expo.

However, the EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai is asking people to take steps to prevent food poisoning, like managing the temperature and storage of food when they bring it with them.
For drinks, you’re encouraged to bring your own bottles or water bottles.
PET bottles are allowed, but glass bottles and cans are not.
As initially announced, alcohol is still prohibited, so check what food and drinks are allowed and not allowed before entering to avoid problems.

Important Notes: Prohibited Items at the Expo

As mentioned earlier, you can bring food and drinks to EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai. However, glass bottles, cans, and alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited.
According to the Visitor Regulations on Prohibited Items and Conduct, there are other items that are not allowed inside the venue. Please do not bring these items.

Important notice for visitors from outside Japan and those traveling from areas outside Osaka.
If you’re traveling from outside Japan or a distant area, be sure to check the rules about suitcases and large luggage.
The Expo venue allows suitcases and large luggage that are no bigger than 60 cm wide, 40 cm tall, and 90 cm deep.
We strongly suggest storing oversized luggage at your hotel or at a station locker before you arrive.
While the Expo site offers paid storage for ¥1,000 per item, it is not guaranteed that your luggage will be stored there. To save time, you can ship your luggage directly from the airport to your hotel before you arrive.
If your destination is within Osaka City, you can ship your items from the Expo site for ¥1,500 per item, as long as they arrive by 3:00 PM.

Elderly or disabled visitors can bring mobility aids, such as walkers, wheelchairs, and strollers.
Are there restaurants inside the Osaka Expo?

At EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, visitors are now allowed to bring all food items (including lunch boxes). However, there will also be dining establishments at the venue, so visitors won’t need to prepare meals in advance.
The Expo site will include food courts, restaurants, fast-food outlets, cafés, and convenience stores. Some menu items and products will only be available inside the venue, so it’s a good idea to eat there.
On weekends and holidays, when there are usually a lot of people, it’s a good idea to bring snacks or light meals in case you have to wait a long time for a restaurant.
