How Do You Book Tickets for Ghibli Park? What Makes It So Difficult?

Tickets for Ghibli Park, which opened in November 2022, are purchased by reservation only. Moreover, the first-come, first-served policy means that you may not succeed in getting the ticket for the day you want to visit.

In this article, we will explain how to purchase tickets, and explain why the tickets are known to be difficult to get, so that you can get a better picture of the ticket buying process.

Let us walk you through the entire process, to help make the process as stress free as possible.

There are three ways to purchase tickets for Ghibli Park

There are mainly three ways to buy tickets to Ghibli Park. The most straightforward way is buying it through their official website online, or through a terminal at a convenience store.

Each of these methods has its advantages and disadvantages, but there is no difference in the fact that tickets are purchased on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you want to be sure to get tickets, JTB also offers Ghibli Park tickets that are combined with lodging, so please consider which is best for you.

1. Purchase through the official website

Purchase from Boo-Woo, an online service that handles Ghibli Park tickets.

To purchase tickets through Boo-Woo, you must register as a member with Boo-Woo in advance.

It is nice to know that the procedure can be done anywhere with a smartphone.

Tickets can be paid by credit card or by carrier payment (pay with your cell phone bill).

If you purchase paper tickets, you can also pay at convenience stores (Lawson and Ministop only)!

2. Purchase at Loppi terminals at Lawson and Ministop

If you purchase from the official website (Boo-Woo), you may have to wait for your purchase.

In such cases, you may be able to get tickets faster by purchasing at Loppi terminals at Lawson and Mini Stop!

The advantage is that you will not have to wait as long as you would if you purchased from the official website (Boo-Woo).

3. Purchase as an accommodation package through JTB

The last method is to purchase tickets with lodging at JTB. This method is not beneficial for those who want to visit Ghibli Park on a day trip or those who have already decided on a place to stay, but it has the advantage of being easier to get tickets compared to the official website or Loppi.

Is it difficult to get tickets to Ghibli Park?

Tickets for Ghibli Park are first-come, first-served. Tickets go on sale at 2:00 pm on the 10th of every month, and tickets can be purchased for two months in advance (for example, tickets for July 1-31 will go on sale at 2:00 pm on May 10).

The early bird gets the worm, so tickets for popular GW, summer vacation, weekends, and national holidays are difficult to obtain.

At the time when tickets go on sale, the official website (Boo-Woo) is flooded with visitors, and in some cases it takes a long time for the purchase screen to appear, and in some cases you may have to wait for several hours.

If you are planning to purchase tickets on the official website (Boo-Woo), it is advisable to complete the membership registration in advance, before the day of sale.
